Essential Training
Packing Class
Knowing how to pack a parachute is a requirement for earning your USPA A License. It may sound like an intimidating process but, with practice, it’s not. In fact, many people take up packing as a way to fund their freefall habit.
Packing is a prescribed, step-by-step process that is a rite of passage for every skydiver. You can hire someone to repack your main, but – in our opinion – you should repack your own canopy sometimes. Being a responsible skydiver requires a high degree of self-sufficiency.
Attendees who successfully complete the single-day course will:
- Understand the USPA rules regarding packing
- Demonstrate mastery of flat packing
- Demonstrate mastery of Proper Ram-Air Orientation (PRO) packing
- Know what to consider for when hiring packers
- Be permitted to pack others’ parachutes with FAA Senior Rigger supervision
- Be permitted to pack your own parachute
Cost of Packing Class: $50
BASE packing class available; contact the DZ.
