Tandem Skydiving
Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve Got Answers!
We get a lot of questions. Most are run-of-the-mill and they’re below, but we’re happy to answer any question you’ve got! Skydiving is our passion, and we consider sharing it a privilege. If your question isn’t addressed on this page, get in touch. We are here to help.
Where is Skydive NEPA?
Skydive NEPA is located in Factoryville, PA in the Endless Mountain Region. We are the top choice for skydiving in Northeast PA. Our skydiving center is conveniently located near Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and Bloomsburg in Pennsylvania, and Binghamton and Endicott in New York. Get directions!
When are you open?
The dropzone is open 8 am to 8 pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday between April and November. The Pennsylvania weather generally grounds us between December and March, but sometimes blue skies bring an exception. Call us!
Is there a minimum skydiving age?
As is standard across dropzones affiliated with the USPA (United States Parachute Association), you must be at least 18 years old to jump at Skydive NEPA. Bring your valid, government-issued, photo ID with you to the dropzone. No ID, no jump; so sorry.
Is there a maximum skydiving age?
Nope! If you are in generally good health and your doctor says it’s OK, you probably can skydive. Matter of fact, the oldest tandem skydiver currently on record was 106 years old when he made his most recent skydive.
Can I skydive if I have a disability?
If you think you can make a tandem skydive, you probably can – no one knows your abilities like you do. Every body is different; we’ll make accommodations if we can and if your doctor’s OK with the plan.
Is there a weight limit for skydiving?
Yes. At Skydive NEPA, our skydiving weight limit for tandem students is 240 lbs, and individuals must be height/weight proportionate. These restrictions are enforced for safety reasons and are by no means intended to be discriminatory or exclusive.
Is skydiving safe?
Skydiving is inherently risky. This is why, as an industry, we make every effort to calculate and mitigate risk. Advances in technology and training have made the sport of skydiving safer than it’s ever been.
At Skydive NEPA, our instructors are highly credentialed and experienced, and our equipment is top-of-the-line. We value our sport waaaay too much to take shortcuts. Safety first: always.
How much does it cost?
Check out our skydiving prices page for details.
Skydiving may seem expensive, but when you consider what makes it – the aircraft and fuel, dropzone facilities, skilled personnel, and specialized equipment – you can quickly see that it’s not.
There’s no such thing as a “deal” with skydiving – and if you find one, beware. You get what you pay for.
How do I book my jump?
The easiest way to book your jump at Skydive NEPA is through our secure, online reservation system. If you’d prefer to book over the phone, just give us a call.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! Skydiving gift certificates are available for a variety of services at Skydive NEPA.
- Gift certificates do not expire, but the face value applies. For example, if the gift certificate is for $250 and the cost of the service is $275, you are responsible for the $25 difference.
- Gift certificates are delivered via email; printed certificates are available by request.
- Gift certificates are reloadable.
- Minimum purchase $50.
Can I cancel my reservation?
You must make a $50 deposit to book your private tandem skydive.
- Cancellations made at least 7 days prior to the day of your jump are eligible for a full refund.
- Cancellations made less than 7 days prior to your jump forfeit the deposit.
What is Skydive NEPA's refund policy?
Scheduled jumps are only refundable when rescheduling is not possible.
When should I arrive for my jump?
Arrive at your reservation time. Don’t be late!
What happens if there is bad weather?
If the weather looks iffy, we’ll get in touch with options for rescheduling. As the saying goes, better to be on the ground wishing you were skydiving, than to be skydiving and wishing you were on the ground!!
Is the video package worth it?
YES! The number one regret we hear from first-time skydivers is not getting the video.
The cost may seem like a lot to shell out ahead of your jump, but it will seem like peanuts afterwards! Whether you’re a one-and-done skydiver or your tandem is just the beginning, you only make your first jump once. Don’t miss the opportunity to see yourself in action!
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, such as athletic wear, and close-toed, lace-up shoes. No boots, sandals or heels. It’s colder at altitude than on the ground, so consider bringing an extra layer. Skydiving jumpsuits are available.
How should I wear my hair?
Long hair should be pulled back securely so as not to obstruct the instructor’s vision. Pony tails, braids, and buns are the most popular option. Head coverings are not permitted unless required for religious reasons. Contact the dropzone with questions.
Can I wear my glasses or contacts?
Yes you can! We will provide you with protective goggles. If possible, wear low-profile glasses so the goggles fit snugly. We want you to see the gorgeous Endless Mountains, and to keep your glasses from getting lost to the sky! Contacts are fine.
If you’ve had Lasik or other eye surgery, talk with your doctor before booking your jump.
Do you have a marriage proposal package?
Yes!! Tell us what would sweep the love of your life off their feet and we’ll custom-create an experience that will earn you big-time brownie points! Connect with us to hatch a top-secret plan!
Can friends and family watch me jump?
Yes. Our shaded spectator pavilion near the landing area is a great spot for watching the action, and we have great amenities to keep your crew occupied while you prepare to jump. We have picnic tables and a grill, and cornhole, basketball hoops, and axe throwing!
Snacks and drinks are available for purchase and there’s a grocery store nearby.
Can I bring my dog to the dropzone?
For safety reasons, dogs are not allowed on the airfield. Dogs that play well with others and remain on leash can hang out in the spectator areas.
What can I do after a tandem skydive?
You can make another private tandem, or you can learn how to skydive solo! Book your First Jump Course on the same day as your tandem skydive to get a jump start on flying solo.
